Cape May Stay

Sylvia, Hugh and Sans Souci at anchor

Coast Guard Cutter lit up near us

CG training center

Our time in Cape May is coming to an end. We were able to get ashore a few times but feel we were a bit far from the cutest parts of town so we don’t have a full appreciation for its charms. Besides the full work days, we got out for walks and a couple of meals. It was fun to hear the Coast Guard recruits at the local training center marching and chanting their cadences in the evenings. They are loud!

Cape May Salts with a Cape May IPA

It was a major team effort for Sylvia and me to find a place that will haul us out of the water so we can make the repairs to the prop strut. Cape Charles Yacht Center has been terrific to work with and they will get us out of the water on Tuesday (Election Day. Vote like it’s the most important election in history)! The marina staff will handle painting the bottom and I will take care of the prop strut and a couple other tasks.

An example of the many historic houses in Cape May

We plan to sail first for Ocean City, MD to spend a night, and then to Cape Charles, VA for the needed work on Sans Souci. Sylvia found us a VRBO property close to the marina, ironically, a house boat in a neighboring marina. It’ll be nice to change our space for a while and explore what promises to be a pretty cute town.
