Long Overdue Update

Christmas Parade in St. Augustine

Hi folks, it’s been a minute since I updated, I guess! Over the last about 3 months, I spent two of them in St. Augustine, FL and have since moved on to Ortega River in Jacksonville. My time has alternately been occupied by mostly work and boat projects. Work has been very busy and has basically completely dominated my weekday time, usually into the evenings.

Solar Upgrade from 400W to 940W

New Victron Energy Multiplus 12V/2000W charger/inverter

Victron Cerbo GX display and BMV 712 Smart Monitor

I have been able to knock a few important projects off the list. I replaced the dodgy wind sensor at the top of the mast when a dock friend hoisted me up the mast. Solar wasn’t keeping up withmy needs on the trip south so I upgraded solar from 400 to 940W and added a Victron 50/100 MPPT charge controller. While I was at it, I replaced the old (original equipment?) battery monitor with a Victron BMS 712 and networked everything to a Victron Cerbo GX. I changed out the battery charger for a Victron Multiplus 12/2000 80 Amp charger/inverter. All of this stuff is high quality and networkable. I can see the state of Sans Souci’s batteries from anywhere in the world now.

I have traced down a wiring problem where the forward inside lights had gone out on me and found that saltwater intrusion had eaten through a wire under the headliner in the forward head. I replaced the flag halyard, cleaned the bottom where I was getting a little growth, installed a Bilge-B-Dry from Neptunian Sky and it’s working really well. My thanks to Bill for his attention and great communication.
