Maine Prep

I spent that last two weeks reuniting with old friends, both in the mountains of Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho and Montana, and the plains of Minnesota. It was a great time and I am fortunate to have been able to take the trip.

I’ve spent the last several days preparing to sail to Maine. We depart this afternoon and plan to arrive in Somesville Sunday morning. We will spend tonight anchored at 3rd Beach in Aquidneck Island, RI which puts us situated to reach the Cape Cod Canal around Noon to take advantage of a fair tide. Then we sail overnight across the Gulf of Maine, arriving at Cranberry Island at the mouth of Somes Sound by Saturday evening. We will spend the night there and then sail up the Sound to Somes Harbor Sunday morning.

Weather might be a little snotty Friday night in the Gulf of Maine but nothing that Sans Souci is not equipped to handle. With three souls aboard, we will be able to split watches and still have 8 hours off watch.

I will check back in once we’ve arrived. Hope for fair winds!
